Who we are

ownio is a platform for creators to build and own their audience, operated from the United Kingdom. For personal data relating to your ownio account, ownio is the data controller. You can reach us about privacy at hello@getownio.com.

What data we collect

• Account data: your name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text.
• Profile data: your display name, username, bio, avatar, social links, and the content of the pages you build.
• Subscriber and lead data: the names, email addresses, and other details of the subscribers and leads you collect through the Service. We process this on your behalf — see "Subscriber data: controller and processor" below.
• Payment data: your billing is handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not store your full card details.
• Support data: the contents of messages and bug reports you send us.
• Technical data: the limited information needed to operate the Service securely, such as session information.

How we use your data

We use your data to provide and operate the Service, process payments, provide support, keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with our legal obligations, and improve the Service.

Legal bases for processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on:

• Contract — to provide the Service you have signed up for.
• Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, prevent fraud, and improve the Service, balanced against your rights.
• Legal obligation — to meet tax, accounting, and other legal requirements.
• Consent — where we ask for it; you can withdraw consent at any time.

Who we share your data with

We share data with the service providers that help us run ownio, each acting under appropriate data-protection terms:

• Supabase — database hosting and authentication.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Resend — sending transactional emails (such as account and billing notifications).
• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure.

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by law.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses / the International Data Transfer Agreement — to protect your data.

How long we keep your data

• Account data: for as long as your account is active, and for up to 30 days after you delete it.
• Financial records: for 6 years, as required by UK tax law.
• Support correspondence: for up to 24 months.

We may keep data longer where the law requires it.

Subscriber data: controller and processor

For the personal data you collect about your own subscribers and leads through the Service, you are the data controller and ownio is your data processor. We process that data only to provide the Service to you and on your instructions. You are responsible for having a lawful basis for collecting it and for giving your subscribers their own privacy information.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, email hello@getownio.com.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data-protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Data security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond appropriately to any incident.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or through the Service. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
